This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before six months and one day from the date of appointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The Administrative Support Assistant serves as a staff member in the Fowler College of Business assigned to the Finance, Management, and Marketing support group. The incumbent provides administrative assistance to the three department chairs and to the Administrative Support Coordinator. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of various office procedures, and other duties as needed to assist in the smooth functioning of the department office.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,615 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,539 - $4,202 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Two years of related office experience preferred.
- Experience with University procurement, travel and reimbursement policies and procedures preferred.
- Experience coordinating and preparing documents and materials for distribution preferred.
- Experience working in an academic and/or customer-focused setting
- Experience with researching and locating information on the Web (via any internet platform)
- Excellent interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
- Excellent detail and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn assigned tasks quickly and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritizes workload, and performs multiple tasks accurately and professionally with high attention to detail, deadlines and confidentiality.
- Ability to keep complex records and files.
- Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and technologies.
- Ability to quickly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies and procedures.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
- Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area using effective communication and listening skills.
