Information Security Officer
Responsibilities: Ensures the existence of a highly secure technology environment for the institution; responsible for the overall development, implementation, and management of the Institute’s information security strategy; develops and refines information technology standards, procedures, and policies and implementing the necessary control mechanisms to ensure compliance to create a highly respected, robust Information Security Program for the Institute; creates and implements an institute-wide information technology awareness program; installs, configures, manages and monitors intrusion detection/prevention systems; implements standards and procedures for vulnerability assessments of campus technologies and enacting action plans to remove vulnerabilities; conducts proactive information technology risk assessments throughout campus; understands and keeps pace with current active IT threat profiles and how these threats impact the Institute.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline with at least three years’ experience in the field of information technology security required; Master’s degree preferred; experience in a higher education environment in the role of information security professional is strongly preferred; Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credentials strongly preferred; experience collaborating with technical professionals and working in a team environment; experience in specifying, planning, and procuring information technology; experience working with vendors to provide proactive technology recommendations to the Institute; flexibility and willingness to participate in institutional activities required; may be expected to represent RHIT at both internal and external venues.
