Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Mission Statement of the Veterinary Health Complex (VHC) at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is, "To provide excellent medical care and population health management for animals, to excel in the education of veterinarians, to advance medical knowledge and to continuously improve the quality of services we provide". This unit provides the latest in rehabilitative, fitness and pain management services to treat dogs, cats, and other small animals.

Essential Job Duties: Provide support for the Rehabilitation service and other designated services. Assist with examinations, treatments, animal restraint, related therapies, and monitor treatment sheets for accuracy. Maintain supplies and equipment, including repair schedules. Ensure compliance with all Infectious Disease protocols. Perform administrative duties for designated services; monitor emails, inventory management, billing, scheduling, supply ordering and purchasing. Ensure good communication / collaboration with all ancillary services and other areas of the hospital. Provide animal husbandry and handling support for the Veterinary Health and Wellness Center as needed; Blood Bank cats, etc.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Experience restraining animals (canine and feline) for basic exams and procedures (venipuncture, cystocentesis, blood donations etc.) Basic computer experience, data entry, email, basic spreadsheet entry. Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all times. Ability to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be an active participant in problem solving and team advancement. Ability to maintain physical work for extended periods of time and lift up to 75 pounds on occasion. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Previous experience as an animal care assistant in a small animal veterinary setting. Experience with OSHA and AAHA standards /requirements.
