Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's Degree BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field, Master's degree a plus.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as CIO or a leadership position in managing professional technical staff and IT systems.
A minimum of 5 years of information technology (IT) leadership experience in a complex and decentralized organization is required. Experience in a higher education, research-oriented, or laboratory IT environment is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience successfully managing data analysis, budgeting and business operations.
Excellent knowledge of and experience with IT systems and infrastructure.
Minimum of 3 years designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation and upgrades.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated success in providing high-quality, customer focused technology services.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
The Information Technology Manager will be responsible for the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) Office of Information Systems (OIS) and manage the use of Information Technology (IT) within a public health laboratory organization of approximately 350 employees. This position will be responsible for adapting the organization's IT strategy and ensuring all systems necessary to support its operations and objectives are in place. The individual in this position must have an extensive IT background and remain up-to-date with emerging advancements in the IT field. The successful candidate will function as part of the strategic leadership within the WSLH; as directed by the WSLH Director work with Divisional and Administrative Offices to define the IT needs ensuring the IT needs are met as defined by the parameters of IT policies (WSLH, UW, etc.) cost parameters. Additionally the individual in this position must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to apply innovative solutions to address IT needs within a laboratory and public health environment. In addition this position is responsible for ensuring the Office of Information System provides the highest value to our organization ensuring the success of the WSLH operations and connections with our internal and external customers, university and state agency partners. The individual in this position must possess superior customer service skills, identify and seek out timely solutions to deliver analytical, financial and summary information to the various clients we serve (i.e., patients, physicians, public health officials, etc.)
