The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Facilities Supervisor II - HVAC to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* This supervisory position is responsible for the maintenance, repair and upgrade of HVAC systems on UNT Denton Campuses. * Work for this position is performed with a high degree or independent judgment and authority under the direction of the Utilities Manager. * This position oversees a crew of HVAC technicians as well as Facilities standby group responding to after-hours calls.* Supervises employees: plans and assigns work and oversees and/or coordinates and monitors the activities of employees.* Interprets and assigns work order specifications to personnel.* Supports and assists maintenance personnel in achieving timely and efficient maintenance schedules; provides opportunities for training on routine prevention maintenance activates.* Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and working conditions to increase efficiency of shop or work crew.* Investigates abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine cause; makes adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed.* Coordinates with other trades and department supervisors on work projects.* Interfaces with service contractors and vendors.* Facilitates response to emergency situations on a 24/7 basis.* Must be available for overtime when necessary.* Complies with all State & University policies. * Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess a High school diploma/GED equivalent and five years experience in related maintenance/repair field. Substitution of education for experience allowed. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, tools, materials and supplies used in cleaning, maintaining, repairing and servicing equipment.* Thorough knowledge of the operating principles of related mechanical assemblies.* Ability to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.* Skill in locating and adjusting defects in equipment.* Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair.* Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates.* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.* Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle, and maintain coverage under University auto insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.
