General Description of Position:
A Research Technician position is available to work in a Behavioral Neuroscience laboratory directed by Dr. Mary Cain. The position will involve working on a grant funded by the National Institutes of General Medicine to study the effects of adolescent ethanol exposure in rats.
Information about the Department:
The Department of Psychological Sciences, which is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, has 15 full-time faculty members who are active researchers and also serve more than 500 undergraduate majors, many of whom are involved in research. The Department has an extensive Ph.D. program with four major areas: Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive, Industrial/Organizational, and Social. This position is a Research Technician role working on an NIH grant awarded to Dr. Mary Cain. This position will primarily collect behavioral data using rodent models, perform rodent surgeries, provide post-operative care to rodents, conduct animal care and use activities, maintain essential records, and assist with data entry. The position reports to Dr. Cain. The activities center on the successful completion of the NIH award.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a High School Diploma (or work equivalent).
A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field is preferred prior to the time of appointment. Experience with laboratory behavioral and surgical procedures, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and MedPC, experience in working as a member of a team, experience working in a laboratory setting, good organizational skills, good communication skills.
