JOB SUMMARY:


Manage all database instances across development, testing, and production environments for Clemson's ERP systems, and also for SLA based systems. Advise on database design, tuning options, and other potential issues in order to ensure the design and execution of database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - SYSTEM INSTALLATION/DESIGN:
Applies database technologies to align with the University's strategic business objectives and goals. Designs and develops total system and product solutions for enterprise-wide information technology and engineering of business processes. Provides expertise for the design and development of IT systems within all levels of complexity. Installs, configures, and directs the deployment of required SDLC topology constructs. Serves as a lead subject matter expert associated with highly technical content, processes and procedures.

25% - Essential - CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT:
Creates information technology plans based on an understanding of the customer's organization, strategic direction, technology context and business needs. Translates customer organizational objectives and critical success factors into actionable business, organization and technology strategies. Assists leadership in determining tactical and strategic direction of information technology at the division and organization level.

20% - Essential - SYSTEM PERFORMANCE:
Proactively monitors, supports, and manages database utilization. Identifies and averts performance and tuning trends or problems that could degrade system performance or availability. Participates in 24x7 on-call rotation.

15% - Essential - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MENTORING:
Researches, evaluates, and stays current on technology tools, techniques, and emerging technology. Provides technical mentoring and cross-training.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support or the support of complex database management systems. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
