Job Summary/Basic Function:

The position oversees the college’s plan for academic and administrative assessment. The position provides guidance for the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of assessment for the purpose of institutional improvements in accordance with University System of Georgia policies and with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements. The position provides training and assistance for the assessment program to academic and administrative units.

MAJOR DUTIES
 Oversees the continuous development and implementation of Institutional Assessment by which the college measures improvement and holds itself accountable to its constituents.
 Provides general support to the college’s assessment program through direct support of the academic and administrative units. Consults with academic units in developing, measuring, and analyzing learning outcomes and administrative units in developing, measuring, and analyzing performance outcomes.
 Educates on data collection instruments and assists with conducting surveys to assess both college-wide and departmental goals and objectives.
 Oversees the college plan for academic assessment, determines a common timetable for assessment stages, and advises all academic assessment activities by aiding with the selection of assessable criteria and the selection or development of appropriate instruments.
 Reviews assessment plans and reports. Completes follow-up as required to ascertain changes made as a result of the assessment report.
 Serves as an institutional repository for assessment reports and assists with the maintenance of a comprehensive institutional assessment database.
 Provides for the assessment education of faculty and staff by arranging conferences, workshops, etc., and maintaining a library of assessment methodology, ideas, and materials and builds and maintains a pool of current resources and information about national assessment issues by attending appropriate conferences and procuring relevant publications.
 Assists college efforts to satisfy the requirements of SACSCOC.
 Reports on college assessment activities as requested/appropriate.
 Recommends policies and procedures to improve the college’s assessment program.
 Attends conferences and workshops in order to learn more about assessment and be able to improve the assessment process.
 Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field

 Two years of experience in a similar position

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

 Mastery of summative and formative academic and administrative assessment principles and procedures

 Knowledge of applied research, data analysis, or data integration

 Ability to adapt assessment procedures to enhance student learning, including the appropriate use of traditional, technology-assisted, hands-on, and other forms of instruction

Knowledge of SACSCOC or other higher education accreditation agency accreditation principles

 Ability to exhibit a positive and courteous attitude with coworkers, students, faculty and staff

 Knowledge of computers and job related software programs

 Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports

 Skill in written and oral communication
