Posting Summary:
The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Director of Career Development. The Associate Director of Career Development assumes a wide variety of individual and group advising, counseling, programming, and career placement responsibilities, with a special focus on the needs of graduate students in the M.S. in Commerce, M.S. in Accounting, M.S. in Management of IT, and future M.S. in Business Analytics programs. The Associate Director assumes a team lead role for the M.S. in Commerce program and maintains responsibility for ensuring quality delivery of career advising and programs that reflect the evolving requirements of this dynamic population of students, and serves as the primary point of contact for MSC faculty and staff. Additionally, the Associate Director supervisors the staff leading advising and programming for the M.S. in Accounting, M.S. in Management of IT and future M.S. in Business Analytics programs and engages staff in strategic innovation, assessment and evaluation. The Associate Director will also team with the Associate Director for undergraduate advising to lead the Commerce Career Service's Advising Team in the absence of the Assistant Dean for Commerce Career Services.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
~Excellent verbal and written communication abilities along with compelling presentation skills.
~Demonstrated ability to perform with a high degree of professionalism in all work settings and functions including all interactions with students, employers, faculty and alumni.
~Ability to manage multiple projects (multi-task), solid planning and organizational skills; high degree of quality and attention to detail is critical. Program management abilities are essential.
~Passionate about building and nurturing strong and enduring relationships with students and helping them achieve success at every step of the career development process.
~Maturity to work comfortably and confidently with young adults as well as mid-career professionals.
~Highly motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and genuine interest in providing exceptional service to students, employers, faculty and alumni thrive in the Commerce Career Services culture.
~Flexible schedule to accommodate evening programs and occasional weekends as necessary (most career-related programs are conducted after 5:00pm).
