Job Description:

The University of Florida is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Controller for Payroll and Tax Services.  This position is responsible for overseeing the staff and processes for paying over 27,000 individuals on a bi-weekly basis totaling more than $1.8 billion in annual gross payroll.  The position is also responsible for overseeing staff and processes responsible for ensuring compliance with payroll and non-payroll tax matters.

The individual selected to fill this position will possess the following characteristics.

  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience in an organization of similar size and complexity;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in payroll tax matters;
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting payroll and tax laws, rules and regulations;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing team; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In addition, the following characteristics are highly preferred for this position.

  • Experience with the PeopleSoft HRMS/HCM;
  • Experience dealing with non-payroll tax matters including but not limited to unrelated business income tax (UBIT) and sales & use tax; and
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certificate.
  • Advertised Salary:

    $95,000 - $125,000; commensurate with education and experience. 

    Minimum Requirements:

    Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with the PeopleSoft HRMS/HCM.

    Experience dealing with non-payroll tax matters including but not limited to unrelated business income tax (UBIT) and sales & use tax.

    Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certificate.
