Position Description:
The Department of Mathematics at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position in applied mathematics beginning Fall 2018. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and must have demonstrated experience successfully working with diverse student populations. Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate an ability to teach courses in differential equations and/or statistics. We are particularly interested in candidates with strengths that would reinforce our working relationship with our School of Engineering & Computer Science, as well as other departments within the Natural Sciences Division. Candidates should be able to involve undergraduates in research projects or experiential learning. The position carries a teaching load of five courses per year (3/2 semester load). In addition to teaching, Pacific faculty are expected to maintain an active research program. The Department of Mathematics consists of 11 full-time faculty who provide coursework in mathematics, applied mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics for our 50 math & applied math majors, and for many other majors requiring mathematics.

The University of the Pacific is a comprehensive, student-centered, private university with its main campus located in Stockton, CA. The Department of Mathematics is a part of the College of the Pacific which offers programs in humanities, fine arts, and social and natural sciences. Pacific's Stockton campus further contains Schools of Engineering & Computer Science, Education, Business, Pharmacy, International Studies, and Music. Pacific's Dugoni School of Dentistry is in San Francisco, and its McGeorge School of Law is in Sacramento.

Basic Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or closely related field is required by August 2018.
Experience in teaching undergraduate mathematics, particularly differential equations and/or statistics.
