Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park.  Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

This position is located at the LSC-System Office at 5000 Research Forest Drive.  The Woodlands, Texas 77381.

Position Summary: 

Under limited supervision and on own initiative, provides oversight and facilitation of day-to-day and some long-term operations within a large and/or System-wide area of specialty, playing a strong role in leading and planning, development, evaluation and improvement. Assigned area and responsibilities will be extensive and/or highly specialized. May be responsible for the success of assigned area, ensuring smooth and efficient operations as well as compliance with policies, procedures and a variety of local, state and federal regulations. Coordinates logistics, services and support surrounding significant/diverse programs or departments. Makes and communicates process decisions based on best practices.

Within Risk Management:

Under limited supervision, position is responsible for the coordination, planning, and facilitation of various risk and insurance management programs in accordance with Lone Star College System objectives. Department-specific functions will include, but are not limited to, reporting, processing and monitoring of claims, to include automobile, property, general liability and workers’ compensation, maintaining the Office of Risk Management (ORM) website and intranet site, assist in monitoring the Student Health Insurance Plan, and processing Certificate of Insurance requests.

Job Functions:

  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations of assigned area. Actively maintains up-to-date knowledge of area and may act as a point of contact and liaison for internal and external constituents as needed
  2. Performs research relevant to area of specialty. Develops, monitors and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases, reports, and presents findings to internal/external constituents (may include LSCS Managers/Executives, community members, and/or outside groups and organizations)
  3. Enters, tracks and maintains a variety of data, including documents, spreadsheets and databases
  4. May be responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with local/state/federal compliance of processes and documentation within assigned area
  5. Schedules and prioritizes work and activities and develops and organizes training materials
  6. Creates methods of evaluation of assigned area. Analyzes results and makes recommendations for revisions to objectives and strategies, with a focus on continuous program improvement. Takes part (or takes Lead) in developing new programs
  7. Coordinates and manages various department and management calendars and schedules. Plans, schedules and coordinates various meetings/seminars/events, including site selection and preparation, marketing and training materials, and general support
  8. Monitors and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department. Submits requisitions, and reviews and approves/denies purchase requests in accordance with the budget
  9. Manages or assists with management of the department budget
  10. Takes part in and/or leads special projects as needed
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, website software, database management, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and well as any specialized equipment typical to assigned functional area
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Specialization in coordinator position area


  • Associate in Claims (AIC), Designation of Texas Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM), or Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Experience working in an educational environment
