Associate Vice President for Development

California State University, Stanislaus (Stanislaus State) invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Development. Stanislaus State serves a diverse student body of more than 9,200 at two locationsin the Central Valley, a beautiful 228-acre campus in Turlock and theStockton Center, located in the city's historic Magnolia District. Widely recognized for its dedicated faculty and high-quality academic programs, the University offers a rich mix of 41 undergraduate majors and 32 graduate programs (24 master's programs, 7 post-graduate credentials, and a doctorate in educational leadership).

Stanislaus State seeks a new Associate Vice President to provide leadership in structuring the operations of the development and alumni engagement programs. The AVP will be a proven major gift fundraiser with a history of strong relationships with donors and a deep knowledge of effective advancement programs, including annual giving, planned giving, major gifts and stewardship. The AVP will oversee all fundraising activities, including moves management, donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, proposal and gift agreement development, and contact reporting.

Stanislaus State seeks an entrepreneurial thinker who can demonstrate the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and community leaders. He or she will be an innovative team builder and collaborative manager who will motivate staff to fulfill high expectations and work in partnership with the University.

The AVP has the opportunity to be engaged in all aspects within the Division of University Advancement and serves as second in command in the absence of the Vice President. The AVP will be expected to provide leadership in a comprehensive fundraising program, which includes annual, major and planned giving with a goal of significantly increasing giving to the University.

Three or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education with demonstrated fundraising success are required. Five or more years working in a higher education advancement division is preferred. A Master's degree is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates who are pursuing an advanced degree or who have extensive fund raising experience in place of an advanced degree. The AVP will be an advancement leader with a track record of managing all aspects of a comprehensive development program made up of annual giving, planned giving, major gifts, special events and volunteers. The AVP will have proven ability to work with senior administration, deans, and faculty.
