About the Position

This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.


Under the general direction of the Senior AVP, the Manager works independently to initiate and manage a variety of projects in support of operational initiatives. The incumbent is expected to analyze operations and identify opportunities for improved performance, develop ways for these improvements to be achieved, evaluate their feasibility, sell their acceptance, track and communicate progress, and assist in or lead implementation. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring consistent customer services practices throughout the department including all methods of communication. This includes the management of the front desk and oversight of all employee intake processes, including management of immigration processes to ensure eligibility to work. The incumbent also manages Employee Support Services and ensures employee transactions are processed in a timely and effective manner. The incumbent also manages the department budget and makes recommendations to the Senior AVP. In addition the incumbent manages a group of student employees responsible for the document imaging process, the daily maintenance of personnel files and the general support of the department. As a member of the University Personnel Leadership team, the incumbent will participate in strategic planning, change management, department organization and staff development.
