Facilities Design and Construction
This position is responsible for development and production of architectural drawings and specifications for campus minor projects; observes and reports on the related construction. Prepares final construction drawings and specifications for review and approval by the Architect Supervisor.
Prepares preliminary design studies and coordinates preparation of related probable cost statements and detailed cost estimates for review and approval by the Architect Supervisor.
Field verifies existing physical conditions at related project sites. Coordinates architectural design work with engineering support consultants. Develops building programs as needed to define the scope of related projects. Reviews building and life safety code requirements and prepares project specific summary analysis reports.
Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma/equivalency and four years of experience.
(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)
Ability to interpret architectural/construction drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to meet project deadlines.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.
Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology in designing, estimating, planning, and inspecting construction projects and managing project schedules.
Skill in estimating the costs of materials and equipment.
Ability to interpret technical and artistic designs and create a final product.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
