Department

Florida State University’s School of Teacher Education in the College of Education invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant/associate professor position in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Applicants with expertise in social communication/skills and/or positive behavior supports are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates who complement and enhance the research and teaching activities occurring in the Special Education Program. The position will begin in August, 2018. Responsibilities

Applicants will be expected to engage in research and grant writing related to ASD, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, assist in the development and coordination of an autism certificate program, collaborate with Special Education faculty related to undergraduate and graduate programming and teacher preparation, advise and mentor Master’s and doctoral students, and provide service to the university and profession.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Special Education with an emphasis in ASD
A strong record of scholarship as indicated by peer reviewed journal publications conference presentations, and collaborative projects.
Experience teaching courses in ASD at the university level
Experience teaching learners with ASD in K-12 settings

Preferred

Board Certified Behavior Analysis Certification or eligible to become certified within a year of employment
Previous grant writing experience
A clear research agenda in the area of ASD
Knowledge of and experience with social skill/communication interventions and/or positive behavior supports for learners with ASD
