Kinesiology & Health: Join the energetic faculty in the Public Health area in the Department of Kinesiology and Health. The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Miami University invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin August 2018. The Department seeks individuals who will: (a) conduct an independent program of research that complements department and college research initiatives, (b) participate in collaborative research programs as appropriate to his/her interests, (c) teach in the department's educational programs, (d) mentor MS graduate students, and (e) provide service to the institution.

The Department has established research programs in college student alcohol consumption, program evaluation, mental health, substance misuse, sexual assault, multiple health behavior change, health literacy, health promotion, obesity, chronic disease self-management, physical activity, health disparities, nutrition, and digital health applications. Kinesiology and Health is one of five departments within the College of Education, Health and Society.

This position has the potential to be part of a cluster hire of faculty in The College of Education, Health and Society for successful diverse candidates whose research, teaching and/or service connects to a theme of promoting Socially Just Communities (e.g., participatory community research, mutually beneficial university-community partnerships including community engagement, service learning, and collaborations with clinical/practice courses/training) consistent with our initiative for Community Justice and Wellbeing.

Required: The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree (e.g., DrPH, PhD in a health field, PhD with a MPH, or PhD in a related field) by date of appointment with expertise in one or more of the following: public health, health policy, health communication, public health systems science, health education, environmental health, or other relevant disciplines.

For appointment at the Associate Professor require record of scholarship, extramural research funding, and graduate student advising and teaching at the Master's level.

Consideration will be given to those with theoretical frameworks relevant to health behaviors such as behavioral intentions; an established research record in the modification of health-related behavioral risk factors; strong quantitative or mixed methods research skills; experience with multidisciplinary collaboration; MCHES or CHES certification; experience with service learning and/or facilitating community-based partnerships; research areas that include substance misuse, multiple health behavior change, mental health, health disparities/inequities, and global health knowledge of and experience with multicultural populations.  At the Assistant Professor level, consideration will be given to those who show evidence of an emerging high quality research agenda and potential for high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
