Duties: The Admissions Specialist supports effective communication to the College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) applicants and admitted students through prompt and accurate response to inquiries via phone, email, U.S. mail and limited walk-ins, and through smooth hand-off of prospective student and applicant queries to recruitment and program staff. This position processes applications according to accuracy and timeline targets to support application goals; monitors applicant data in the online application/admission system (CollegeNET); updates applicant records; monitors progress of pending files until complete; and routes completed applications to admissions committees for review. S/he also retrieves student data from the University Student Registration System (SRS) and runs routine application and admissions reports. The Specialist coordinates admissions communications, posts admissions decisions, and also works closely with LPS Student Records staff to ensure post-decision applicant data is correct. This position also schedules admissions interviews and serves on the LPS undergraduate admissions committee.
Qualifications: Required: High school diploma and 5 to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of work in an office setting with public/customer contact strongly preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; intermediate level skills in MS Office; basic understanding of databases. Preferred: Experience in an academic environment; knowledge of SRS (referenced above) or similar system for collecting student data (e.g., Banner). Experience using CollegeNET.
