Advertised Job Summary: University of South Carolina/Institute for Families in Society-MPR Division is seeking a GIS Research Associate. Position will use Geographic Information System (GIS) software, tools and methods to geocode data, perform advanced spatial analyses, generate map and infographic products, and automate spatial and data management processes in a fast paced, applied research environment. Position will identify, develop, and implement new geospatial tools and methods as appropriate. Position will be responsible for process documentation and maintenance of metadata. Staff will be a member of a GIS unit using latest ESRI software (ArcGIS Desktop, Server, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online), spatial statistical software, and ancillary tools (Excel, Access, Internet-based data sources, SQL Server). This position is established in support of expanded research activities and projects.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Master's degree in geography, public health, earth sciences, life sciences, engineering, or a related field and 5 years related experience.
