University of North Texas - GIS Administrator
The Facilities Planning Design and Construction Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Construction Specialist III - GIS Administrator to join our team. * Ability to understand business needs, analyze resource requirements, identify resource gaps, estimate level-of-effort, and recognize opportunities to leverage existing resources in the creation of GIS solutions to the business needs of FPDC, Facilities and the University.* Lead GIS services for FPDC and Facilities; act in a project manager capacity for the procurement, maintenance, and operation of GIS databases, software packages, and applications; supervise GIS technicians.* Coordinate with Mapping Analyst to ensure cohesive, integrated and consistent two-way data workflows between field and office operations; administer data processing, maintenance, and analysis workflows.* Manage GIS application development lifecycle.* Author and keep current, comprehensive and organized documentation regarding the execution of all GIS solutions, including, but not limited to: metadata, data dictionaries, E-R diagrams, descriptions of data workflows; training materials; user guides; and method of procedure documents.* Lead end-user training programs and provide on-going support for FPDC of all GIS solutions; keep training material relevant and current.* Liaise with internal and external agents to coordinate GIS services; manage integration of external data sources into production database.* Respond to requests for information and services from internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, cartographic products, geoprocessing models, and reporting products.* Assist management with GIS strategic planning by researching and staying abreast of industry trends, marketplace solutions and emerging technologies.* Provide subject matter expertise in GIS to UNT and UNT System.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Physical ability to access work areas which may be in confined spaces or elevated heights.* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.* Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle, and maintain coverage under University auto insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.
