The Biological Sciences Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Purchasing Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Purchasing and general office duties.* Receiving shipments of equipment and supplies.* Dispensing merchandise such as liquid nitrogen to students, researchers, and professors as needed.* Maintaining physical inventory in the stockroom and files for receiving.* Completing data entry for inventory control, record-keeping, and stockroom billing.* Moving incoming freight merchandise / other materials.* Assisting with annual stockroom inventory.* Supervising stockroom student workers.* Obtaining quotes from vendors for purchase requisitions and accurately completing purchase orders for department through EIS EPRO System.* Placing orders using a purchasing card; maintaining accurate credit card records; reconciling monthly statements.* Demonstrating a sense of priority and confidentiality.* Possessing excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, initiative, and exceptional time management.* Seeking out new tasks and responsibilities during slow periods.* Working well with a team or independently.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years of experience in purchasing or related field. Substitution of education for experience allowed. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Skill in making mathematical calculations and computations.* Ability to keep records; to assemble and organize data, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
