Finance Institute Administrator



I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Finance Institute Administrator will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations including overseeing the operational, budgeting, financial, research and some human resources functions for the Autism Neurodevelopmental Disorders Institute (ANDI). This position will facilitate and support the work of the office's director, the office's faculty and their staff members in order for them to advance the ANDI, SMHS and GW research mission.
The mission of the AND Institute is to improve the lives and address the needs of adolescents and young adults with autism as they transition into adulthood. Responsibilities Include:
• Oversees annual operating and period of performance budgets in related to various funding sources including grants, subcontracts, gifts, and institutional.
• Monitors and oversees post award and operational expense budgets, to include reviewing and approving expenses against the approved budget and SMHS, University and Federal policies, procedures, and guidelines. Serves as the primary contact to grant funders/subcontractors.
• Facilitates and prepares various budgets including annual operating, proposal and new initiatives.
• Oversees administrative staff and human resource functions. Facilitates and coordinates the recruitment, merit and annual review processes with school centralized offices.
• Conducts financial analyses and prepares reports for SMHS, University, and funding agencies both federal and non-federal. Prepares financial analysis required to evaluate new programs and services. Reviews, analyzes and seeks input from departmental and research personnel regarding budget variances, to include preparing reports that define corrective action to variances. Analyzes and recommends improvement to current financial and operational processes of the Institute.
• Ensures financial control procedures are in place for the groups supported and monitors for exceptions.
• Monitors and oversees payroll budgets and effort reporting, to include reviewing and approving staffing expenses against approved budgets and SMHS, University and Federal policies, procedures, and guidelines. Initiates resolution procedures for discrepancies and recommend corrective actions for budget variances.
• Enhances professional knowledge/skills by attending workshops/seminars and by reviewing published information.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

-Research Administrative experience including Pre - and Post - award in academic institutions is preferred
-Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a collaborative team-based setting, building and maintaining professional relationships both interior and exterior to the organization
-Demonstrated ability to maintain and organize complex filing systems for ease of access and reference
-Proficiency with using computers to analyze financial information and to prepare financial reports
-Experience with complex matrix organizations in a healthcare setting is preferred
