General Description of Position: Coordinating the nursing staff at Lafene Health Center. Supervisory responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct supervision of nursing staff and auxiliary personnel
  • Overseeing all nursing related activities
  • Generating and publishing all nursing personnel scheduling & job assignment for the Health Center
  • Working cooperatively with the Medical Director to coordinate all health care team member's schedule and locations for any given work day (including MD's, DO's, NP's, and PA's)
  • Authority is granted to the Nursing Coordinator to ensure that necessary provider and nurse coverage is achieved for the Health Center on any given work day
  • Reviewing nurse patient care plans, all other related documentation, and communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned which may change from time to time

Evaluation of responsibilities include the following:

  • On an ongoing basis, evaluate nurse employee's work performance in accordance with established goals, job standards, and job descriptions
  • Provide direct correction, counsel, and encouragement appropriate to each staff member regarding performance deficiencies to improve specific and/or overall job performance
  • Conduct annual reviews for nursing staff in a respectful, effective, and timely manner

Recordkeeping responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure that all relevant and necessary documentation is gathered according to standards established by Lafene Health Center for nursing staff and auxiliary personnel :
    • Patient history
    • Clinical data
    • Medical provider's orders
    • Patient response to treatment
    • Patient education and instruction
    • Other objective findings pertinent and evidentiary to the care and treatment of the patient by Lafene Health Center medical providers, nurse and auxiliary staff
  • Promote and enforce high standards regarding record keeping and documentation in order to:
    • Enhance continuity of care.
    • Communicate in a timely, concise, and effective manner to other healthcare professionals
    • Provide a robust legal defense with regard to our professional care and conduct
    • Furnish information for review, study, and evaluation in an audit

Nursing care responsibilities include the following:

  • On a weekly basis, provide direct care to clients in accordance with Health Center recognized standards, established nursing techniques, procedures, physician orders, administrative policies
  • Remain proficient and fully capable of rendering nursing care in all functional areas of the Health Center

  • Possess a high level of proficiency regarding utilization and problem solving within the electronic health record system employed by Lafene Health Center

  • Assessing patient needs through interviewing, recognizing, and interpreting symptoms and conditions in order to determine individual response to treatment programs and current medications and to gather and relay accurate reports to the healthcare provider about the patient's condition and/or progress

  • Administration of medications as prescribed

  • Understanding patients' health conditions and instructing them regarding self-care techniques and preventative strategies. Taking into account the potential for compliance or non-compliance with routine treatment. Communicating in a written or verbal manner as necessary to promote the highest level of physical and mental well-being possible

  • Formulating nursing diagnoses in order to outline a nursing care plan specific to the patient's needs to assure continuity of medical, physical, and emotional care during the treatment process.

Actively and directly participates in the achievement of Lafene Health Center goals of excellence of service through the principles of quality management by involvement in quality management studies, peer reviews. Furthermore, displaying positive patient relations skills in order to ensure appropriate interactions with clients and staff.

Required Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in related field, or work equivalent. Must have three to five years of progressively responsible experience work related position. Other Requirements: Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse. Must have demonstrated leadership and supervision skills.  Special Instructions to Applicants:
