Duties: The Research Specialist A/B will perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) experiments related to the research focus of the group with special emphasis on degenerative disc disease, Osteoarthritis and Alzheimer s Disease. The Research Specialist A/B will implement new MRI protocols focused on translational research and engage with and perform MRI scans on human subjects and small animals. (This work may require early or late shift work.) Process data generated from MRI scans and write scientific publications.
Research Specialist A will be involved in planning, conducting and analyzing experiments aimed at development of new magnetic resonance methods and applications. Research Specialist will provide technical support to enable our laboratory to function effectively and will adhere to standard procedures and guidelines. May perform sample collections, testing, measuring, recording and analyzing of results. Research Specialist will carry out experiments under the management of a supervising scientist to allow senior scientific personnel to concentrate on the more complex analytical processes in the laboratory.
Research Specialist B: In addition to the above, the Research Specialist B will independently design and perform assigned experiments, develop standard protocol, process and analyze results. Keep abreast of the work of other scientists within our group and in the wider scientific community. Keep up to date with external research carried out in their field of study.

Qualifications: Research Specialist A: B.A./B.S. in adjacent field and 0 to 1 year of post degree laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; scientific background; ability to learn new techniques; ability to follow existing protocols; ability to develop novel protocols and methods; outstanding interpersonal interaction skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, problem recognition and solving, and organizational skills. Skilled in MATLAB. Prior experience in the field of T1rho and CEST imaging is desirable.
Research Specialist B: Same as above with 1-3 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
