Posting Summary:
The Department of Public Health Sciences is seeking a Research Specialist to support the activities of a research program designed to understand and ameliorate patients' self-management of health and health information in home and community settings. Several projects have a focus on mobile and consumer health technologies. Study populations include: individuals with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities; individuals living with chronic conditions, such as diabetes and cancer; and underserved populations, such as refugees. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the PI in all aspects of these projects, such as: providing coordination for the research teams; supervising undergraduate research assistants; scheduling, organizing, and conducting research meetings; searching and maintaining relevant health literature databases; conducting fieldwork; data analysis; chart reviews; and writing conference and journal publications.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in public health, human factors, psychology, social sciences, nursing, or education. A master's degree in one of the above fields is preferred. Previous research experience and experience in qualitative and statistical analyses is preferred.

This position will require travel within and around the state of Virginia for in-home visits. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

This position has an end date of September 30, 2018, and may be renewed upon performance and availability of funding.
