Job Summary:

The University of Colorado | Anschutz Medical Campus has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Human Resources and Finance Coordinator. This role may be filled at the entry through intermediate professional level, depending on the successful candidate's education, experience, and suitability for a particular position. This role will support the Physical Therapy Program which provides programs of excellence in education, clinical care, research/scholarship, and community service to educate students to become doctors of physical therapy. There are three concurrent classes of students within the PT Program, which consists of approximately 65 students per class, 30 core faculty and staff, with additional affiliate faculty, student employees, approximately 200 outside consultants, and over 300 clinical affiliation sites.

This position will manage the finance, procurement and human resources functions of the Program, which includes a direct responsibility for: accounting, reporting, and transaction processing in accordance with federal, state, university, and program policies and procedures.

Examples of Work Performed:

Human Resources: Manage human resource activities, including but not limited to:
  • Clinical faculty appointments.
  • Coordinating processes related to employee recruitment, retention and promotion, in collaboration of the PT Program and Department of Physical Medical and Rehabilitation.
  • Developing, evaluating and classifying job descriptions.
  • Screening applicants.
  • Developing interview questions/assessments and conducting interviews.
  • Coordinating and scheduling of interviews.
  • Overseeing all monthly and biweekly payroll processes.
  • Entering, reviewing and coordinating transactions in the Human Capital Management (HCM) System.
  • Processing funding distribution and Payroll Expense Transfers (PETs) as needed.
  • Assisting with electronic personnel effort reporting (ePER).

Finance and Procurement:
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, this role will implement and oversee all financial and procurement activities of the PT Program.
  • Create and run expense reports in Concur, including reimbursements for employees and non-employees, purchasing, and travel.
  • Oversee purchasing requests in CU Marketplace.
  • Prepare and financially review various budgets, scholarships, endowments, and awards.
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies.

PT Program Reporting:
  • Responsible for development of a variety of reports.
  • Analyze data, present findings and provide recommendations to management.

  • Work with Program Manager to establish processes and ensure departmental compliance.
  • Responsible for daily decision-making and problem resolution.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

For Entry Level Appointments:
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

Substitution: Closely related human resources, finance or business operations experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific experience.

For Intermediate Appointments:
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of professional level human resources experience.

Substitution: Closely related human resources, finance or business operations experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education, healthcare or academic medical environment.
  • Experience utilizing MS Excel or similar software to manage data and create reports.
  • Closely related financial experience including budgeting, reconciliations, procurement, and expense reimbursements.
  • Experience coordinating recruitment, appointments and onboarding.
  • Experience working with CU systems such as HCM, Concur and CU Marketplace highly desired.
