Job Summary:

Working independently and under general supervision, the Instrument Maker Specialist is responsible for providing machine shop services, including design consultation and expert machining to faculty, staff, and graduate students. The incumbent primarily serves employees within the Medical Physics Department, but also provides service to employees throughout the School of Medicine and Public Health and School of Engineering. The Instrument Maker Specialist designs and fabricates unique instrumentation to support research and instruction in research laboratories, often working in close contact with researchers. The incumbent maintains machine shop equipment, manages students working in the Medical Physics machine shop, and orders materials used in fabrication.



Schedule Comment:

Usual business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The position may be part-time or full-time depending on our department and selected candidate's needs. We welcome and encourage candidates to apply who are looking for 20-40 hours per week (50-100% FTE). The exact work schedule will be established upon hire.
