Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs/Provost, the Dean of Library Services is
responsible for the administration of the Daniel J. Kaufman Library & Learning Center, Georgia Gwinnett
College's campus library. Chief among this position's responsibilities is the provision of leadership and vision in
the execution of the Library's development to expand access and enhance learning in support of Georgia
Gwinnett College's Mission. The Dean is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the
Library's operations including its personnel, equipment, material resources, technologies, facilities and space.
- Provide vision and strategic planning for the Library
- Manage and supervise Library personnel in the various library operations and provisions of services
- Manage the Library's annual budget
- Manage the Library's communications and public relations
- Oversee development and establishment of Library policies and procedures
- Manage the Library's material resources for collection development
- Perform other duties as assigned
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience with excellent benefits.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
- ALA accredited or BOR approved Master's Degree in Library or Information Science
- Minimum of 7-10 years academic library experience in increasingly responsible positions
- Minimum of 3-5 years senior level library administrative experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated expertise in the knowledge and function of information services, especially in the academic setting
- Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in higher education, with understanding of implications that they will have for the academic library environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities to initiate and manage change, implement policies, and develop internal/external partnerships
- Strong management skills, including demonstrated organizational, planning and supervisory skills, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, and the ability to build quality teams
- Commitment to a teaching/learning environment and to the team/collaborative concept
