Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Administrative Manager of the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Research Coordinator will facilitate research related activities for faculty and students conducting research, including maintaining a Canvas page, website and a database of activity. This individual will build and organize the student/faculty research database. He/She will manage all research expenditures for students and faculty. He/She will serve as primary support for the Patient Studio as well as organize and facilitate other departmental projects related to research. As the research coordinator, he/she will work with various other individuals, such as research coordinators and principal investigators. Duties include maintaining regulatory data integrity, assisting in the preparation of FDA or internal audits, functioning as a team player, working effectively with other coordinators in the same department, reviewing all regulatory documents, developing a technique to track study activity, and carrying out work assignments with little supervision and exemplary judgment. This job requires the worker to ensure that important forms are submitted in a timely manner. Other various duties include working closely with sponsors and study personnel on pertinent regulatory issues, developing procedures and policies, and leading regulatory educational events in order to fully educate other staff members or colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience in business management, public administration, administrative services or related field; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with university faculty/staff administration
Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Proficient with database creation and management
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Organization and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work independently
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees


General knowledge of human subjects' protections/research regulatory processes.
Knowledge of Administrative and business management principles, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to administrative/business activities of the organization.
Knowledge of USCSOMG fiscal policies, practices and procedures.
Ability to formulate and implement administrative policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the team, with faculty and administration.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
