Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for an Administrative Coordinator I position. The individual hired in this position will serve as the Assistant to the Chair for the department. Responsibility will include supervising four permanent staff employees and student assistants. This position is also responsible for coordinating, overseeing and performing a variety of the day-to-day activities related to office management, scheduling, committee meetings, foundation development, seminars and special events that supports faculty, staff and students of the department.

This is a full-time permanent position that offers health benefits, annual and sick leave.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must have thorough knowledge of university policies and procedures and be able to handle constant interruptions and changes; have the ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions and be up-to-date with office practices, procedures, and equipment. The employee must be able to train, plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to interact with a variety of people and to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to meet high pressure demands and deadlines, prioritize assignments and work independently. Must know Microsoft Office Suite, IMS, Millenium, Financial Edge.
