Manager I - Assistant Agricultural Resources Manager

Educational and Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with one year of supervisory experience in an agricultural farm and ranch operation or similar position with emphasis on beef cattle and/or goat production and pasture management. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities would be considered.
Primary Responsibilities: As a teaching and research facility, the primary goal of Gibbs Ranch is to meet the needs for animal, forage, and soil management laboratory instruction and research. Other service activities are performed for the department and the community. The assistant manager (at the direction of the manager) would be expected to support these activities, which would involve coordination with extension personnel, university staff and department faculty. The assistant manager would assist in maintaining farm records, be required to operate and maintain equipment, including tractors above and below 90 h.p. The assistant manager would be involved in the care and welfare of all livestock on Gibbs Ranch. Must be prepared to work in varying environmental conditions and be capable of lifting and moving items of at least 50 pounds.
Other Specifications: The successful applicant should have A.I. (artificial insemination) experience and aptitude toward purebred cattle production and advanced breeding practices. Should also possess good computer skills and be comfortable working with a wide range of people with varying personalities. A strong agricultural background and attention to detail are desirable and expected.
