Assistant Professor of Music Theatre/Applied Voice
The Department of Music at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Description of Responsibilities: Serve as musical director for yearly musical theatre mainstage collaboration; teach music theatre workshop; teach studio applied voice lessons and teach class voice. Additional teaching areas may include: basic music theory/history course, aural skills, assistant director or director for choral groups, or other tasks as department needs and skills/interest dictate.
In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
- Terminal degree in Vocal Performance, Vocal Pedagogy, or related degree based on description of responsibilities. ABD considered, with expected terminal degree received August 15, 2019.
- Documented experience in musical theatre style and ability to serve as music director for productions.
- Demonstrated effective teaching skills including engagement of students, knowledge of voice, effective rehearsal techniques and appropriate repertoire selection.
- Strong piano skills
- Background in Music Education
- Ability to promote student success in a multicultural and global community
- Bass-baritone or mezzo-soprano preferred (all voice types considered)
