RESEARCH SPECIALIST B
Duties: The successful candidate will have a wide set of research laboratory skills and experience. Specific requirements are to be able to perform complex lab work such as purifying and characterizing antibodies and assisting in high throughput screens of small molecules. Mouse work will include perfusions, collection of brain, spinal cord, and cerebral spinal fluids, and post-mortem immunohistochemistry. Mastery of certain biochemical techniques such as sandwich and inhibition ELISAs is required, and the candidate must exhibit a high level of expertise such that he or she will be able to train other lab members on these techniques. The candidate will work, to some extent independently with some level of supervision, with post-doctoral fellows and other trainees in executing experiments for ongoing projects. He or she will take an active role in data analysis and is expected to think independently about interesting directions to take the research based on the experimental results. Other duties include independently writing laboratory reports and diagnostic reports of brain donors as well as contributing to preparation of manuscripts and publication of results of scientific experiments.
Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
