Advertised Job Summary: The Videographer works closely with other colleagues in the Office of University Marketing and Communications as part of a creative team charged with communicating key messages with internal and external constituents across a spectrum of media. Under limited supervision, performs advanced level videography services for the University that presents newsworthy events, locations, people, or other illustrative or educational material for use in publications to advance the brand and image of USC Upstate. - Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Multimedia Production, the Videographer creates promotional videos that aid in student recruitment, showcases student life, features faculty achievements, promotes the University to the external publics, and brands the image of the institution. This includes videos for the Upstate Magazine, fundraising campaigns, Founders Day, and other special events. - Makes technical decisions for video projects including recording equipment, lighting, composition, and audio. Assists in editing and assembling final visual/audio program material. Tests all equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio and lighting apparatus prior to operation in the field. - Assembles brief video clips that can complement media releases, web postings, social media postings, digital signage announcements, etc. - Maintains archival and file storage of video footage and ensures that all videos uploaded to You Tube channel and web sites fully meet the Section 508 mandates and are closed captioned. - Work in tandem with the campus photographer to ensure that photography and videography are captured simultaneously for optimum results when creating marketing campaigns.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree in related field and 3 years experience in radio or TV programming, production or engineering; associate's degree with 5 years of related experience; or high school diploma and 7 years related experience. Must have a valid driver's license and have a successful background check.
