Job Summary Overview of Responsibilities Family Assessment Workers (FAW) will be responsible for assessing new parents (prenatal and postnatal) for the risk of child abuse and neglect. The FAW will offer family home visitation services. Family Support Workers (FSW) provide emotional support, parenting education and guidance, and linkage to community resources through weekly, bi-monthly, monthly and quarterly home visits with at risk parents of newborns and children under age five years. Home based service delivery helps to develop healthy family relationships and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect among families needing intensive services. FAW/FSW will work full-time (40 hours per week) and are directly responsible to the Healthy Families Program Manager. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field and one (1) year of applicable experience. Ability to learn about all of the services and resources available to county Extension clientele and the ability to assist clientele with access to these services and resources; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, district, and state staff, local government employees, and clientele; Ability to successfully complete 4-H Chaperone Training; Proficiency in current word processing and data management and accounting software programs (e.g. QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel); and Certified Master Gardener training is preferred
