Professional Research Assistant

The Schwartz/Yang Lab seeks an energetic and motivated individual to join our research group. We are seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant to assist with clinical coordination and human subjects research for the Schwartz/Yang Lab in the Pulmonary Division, of the Department of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Examples of Work Performed:



The assistant study coordinator will help to manage large, federally funded research projects.
  • Assisting in the coordination of all aspects of the recruitment and enrollment of study participants with disease of interest
  • Communicate with potential participants, collect and review medical records, ascertain data, enter data, file data, manage and pay invoices for study-related tests, and follow up with study participants
  • Assurance of quality control and flow of data
  • Coordinate study-related procedures for study participants as needed
  • Write internal and external progress reports and generate progress report statistics
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls as needed with the study team and collaborators
  • Website content development for study recruitment: develop and maintain study-related recruitment websites
  • Assist with periodic study newsletter writing, design, and mailing
  • Assist with IRB submissions for ethical review

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Data entry
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior research experience
  • Experience with Institutional Review Boards
  • Prior database experience
  • Knowledge of theories and principles of human genetics


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher is required
  • Data entry of research-related data
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment, strong decision-making skills, diplomacy, tact and a professional demeanor
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
