Duties: The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) and Orphan Disease Center (ODC) are entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases. Our R&D organization has a translational infrastructure that includes: technology discovery, specialized immunology assays operating under GLP, a Vector Core/Manufacturing unit that conducts GMP comparable work, and a large non-clinical program for animal testing under GLP including large NHP and rodent vivaria.

Our Animal Models Core is looking for In Vivo Lab Technician, which will ensure the humane care and treatment of laboratory animals.

As an In Vivo Lab Technician, you will actively support GTP discovery and pre-clinical research programs by providing advanced husbandry for rodents (breeding & care), managing our specialized barrier colony; assisting in experiments; handling dosing, sample collection, sanitizing/decontaminating all work areas; health monitoring and observing animals, reporting abnormalities to Supervisor and/or Veterinarian); perform accurate data collection/reporting with minimal supervision; and participates in training activities as it relates to new employees entering the barrier group.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma and 3 years to 5 years of experience working with laboratory animals & AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification or equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
Bachelor's Degree w/ LAT certification strongly preferred
Must have experience animal handling and be dedicated the humane care of lab animals.
Strongly prefer experience working within GLP or other regulated environments
Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping a must!
Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays
