The Associate Director of Training in Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is responsible for the leadership and management of the advanced practicum graduate student training program. The Associate Director of Training in CAPS coordinates the provision of supervision and training, evaluates the effectiveness of the training program, and facilitates future planning and development with the training staff. The Associate Director of Training in CAPS also provides clinical services to GGC students and outreach to the campus community.


  • Provide counseling / psychotherapy for diverse student populations with various cultural backgrounds. Includes: providing individual, couples, and group counseling; providing short term, long term counseling, walk-in appointments, and crisis intervention.
  • Responsible for: providing seminars / didactic trainings, scheduling guest speakers for trainings, scheduling participation in relevant conferences, participating in relevant professional associations, interviewing practicum students, supervising the clinical experience of the practicum students or postdoctoral fellow, writing evaluations, and communication with Doctoral Programs.
  • Participate in on-call for campus crisis interventions.
  • Coordinate and provide training for graduate trainees.
  • Coordinate outreach programs and services. Includes: managing and scheduling outreach requests; providing consultation services for faculty and staff; helping to develop and promote psychoeducational workshops for students on topics such as stress management, healthy relationships, alcohol use and abuse, and depression.
  • Participate as a team member in the Division of Student Affairs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:



  • A doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology
  • Experience practicing as a licensed psychologist
  • One year of post-licensure experience in clinical practice as a psychologist
  • Previous experience in a college counseling center
  • Clinical skill in providing short term, long term, crisis counseling; group psychotherapy; individual and couples therapy


  • Experience with Titanium
  • Three years of experience in clinical practice as a licensed psychologist
  • Previous experience in a college counseling center


  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical training program management and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student groups
  • Experience and skill in consulting with professional colleagues and staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and experience with diverse populations on a college campus
