THIS POSTIING IS FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATESThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Math Tutor/Peer Scholar - Upper Level (Student Assistant III).

This posting is for student positions for FALL 2017.

The UNT Dallas Math Lab offers tutorial assistance in math to students who need supplemental academic support. The Math Lab Tutor/Scholar serves as an important staff/team member of the Math Lab and the Learning Commons. He/she works under the supervision of the Learning Commons Coordinator and Administrative Specialist and works closely with the math faculty. Duties may include, but are not limited to:* Providing tutoring to students in open lab/self-paced settings including clarification of course assignments, lectures, and tests.* Working with students individually or in small groups to select and use resource material and/or lab equipment appropriately * Helping Learning Commons Coordinator plan tutor training every semester and lead training sessions as needed * May provide input in developing and maintaining materials needed to demonstrate learning objective for Learning Commons in tutoring environment * Assisting Learning Commons team with maintaining detailed student records; monitoring, inputting and analyzing data related to student attendance, persistence, retention, and satisfaction * Serving as a liaison between the Math Lab and UNT Dallas academic community (faculty and staff) by reaching out to faculty and gathering class information, syllabi, expectations, etc.; keeping instructors informed of the type of tutorial assistance his/her student received while in the center and sending reports of the sessions when necessary* Organizing and developing reference material (handouts, workshops, custom workshops, videos, audio information, etc.) for the Math Lab and the UNT Dallas community* Helping promote the Math Lab and services offered by developing positive relationships with campus community, developing marketing information, updating social media outlets, delivering presentations and classroom workshops around campus * Assisting the Writing Center Coordinator with other tasks as assigned (typing, emailing, answering phone, etc.)* Assisting with additional duties as needed, such as exam preparation, covering front desk, answering phones, organizing materials, scheduling appointments, etc.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit ? and takes actions to prevent ? discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
