THIS POSTING IS FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATESThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Learning Commons Peer Tutor (Student Assistant II).

This posting is for student positions for FALL 2017.

This is a university funded position created to help support the academic success and retention of UNT Dallas students. The UNT Dallas peer tutors offer tutorial assistance in math to students who need supplemental academic support. The Peer Tutor serves as an important staff/team member of the Learning Commons. He/she works under the supervision of the Learning Commons Coordinator and works closely with faculty in the appropriate discipline. Duties may include, but are not limited to:* Providing tutoring to students in open lab/self-paced settings including clarification of course assignments, lectures, and test preparation for courses offered at UNT Dallas* Coaching students to improve academic skills (time management, exam preparation, study skills, etc.)* Serving as proctor for students taking exams * Maintaining records of students tutored and attended sessions* Providing presentations to classes or groups of students concerning the services offered at UNT Dallas* Assisting with informational promotions such as postings, announcements, and information tables* Attending mandatory monthly CRLA training and additional weekly or bi-monthly trainings provided by discipline faculty and Learning Commons Coordinator* Creating resources for students such as handouts, videos, podcasts, etc.* May provide input in developing and maintaining materials needed to demonstrate learning objective for us in tutoring environment * Assisting with additional duties as needed, such as exam preparation, covering front desk, answering phones, organizing materials, scheduling appointments, etc.
