Communications & Marketing Specialist (College of Veterinary Medicine)

General Description of Position: The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Communications & Marketing Specialist. This position is responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of the comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations programs that will enhance the K-State College of Veterinary Medicine as well as the Beef Cattle Institute (BCI). • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the K-State College of Veterinary Medicine.

• Facilitate internal and external communications

• Ensure articulation of CVM’s desired image and position; assure consistent communication of image position both internally and externally.

• Collaborate with communications and marketing divisions within the college to ensure brand consistency

• Responsible for design, production and distribution of organizational materials.

• Coordinate media interest in the college and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests and monitor media tracking

• Coordinate appearance of print and electronic materials, such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, digital signs, etc.

• Oversee website and coordinate changes with website developer.

• Assist industry stakeholders and allied industry groups in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.

• Manage social media pages and ensure brand consistency across different channels.

• Leads projects as assigned. 

 

Beef Cattle Institute (BCI):

• Responsible for implementing and maintaining marketing and communications standards from the college into BCI processes.

• Responsible for design, production and distribution of organizational materials, primarily the bi-monthly newsletter, The Grazier.

• Responsible for the creation of new content and placement through different media channels.

• Coordinate appearance of print and electronic materials, such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, digital signs, etc.

• Oversee BCI website and coordinate changes with website developer.

• Manage social media pages for the program.

• Lead projects as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Communications or related field (or work equivalent)  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Communications or related field
  • Experience working with individuals, groups and co-workers to accomplish individual and/or group goals, as evidenced by previous leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated skills including administrative, personnel management, communications skills, writing experience and sound knowledge of all facets of production agriculture.
  • Proven ability to deal with the demands of heavy workloads along with the self-discipline to work independently and the flexibility to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media.
  • Create an environment that fosters diversity, collegiality and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
