Assistant Professor, Prosthetic Interfaces

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking to hire three (3) tenure-track assistant professors to join the Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster (http://www.ucf.edu/research/prosthetics) during spring 2018. The Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster will focus on fundamental and applied sciences in the study of musculoskeletal challenges and the body’s response to implanted device.

This is an interdisciplinary position involving the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in any of the following areas: prosthetics and its interface with tissues; micro-tribology; biomaterials; sports injuries and reconstructive repair; wear; musculoskeletal tissue engineering; implant infection; mems; actuator design; and medical signal processing. This includes material development; mechanical design; micro-mechanics; micro-tribology; tissue responses to prosthetic devices and novel implant material integration; tissue repair and regeneration following injury; disease or aging; drug delivery; cell therapy; disease modeling; short- and long-term physiological and bacterial responses to implants; antimicrobial resistance; as well as artificial tissue development. The selected candidate will have a strong desire to collaborate and develop novel technologies with scientists and engineers from other disciplines at UCF.
