Assistant Club Coach, Dance Team
Summary of the Position
The Dance Team Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the development of individual and team talent, overseeing dance instruction, and supervising activities related to weekly rehearsals and performances as scheduled. This also includes being responsible for ensuring the team receives choreography/instruction for any new routines. In addition, the Assistant Coach should promote the Dance Team on campus, especially at athletic events, while encouraging the members to publicize the team in new and creative ways in order to expand membership.
The Assistant Coach is required to help schedule and be present during all practices and game day performances, ensuring that all safety standards as defined by Bentley University are met in full.
Coordinate weekly rehearsals.
Communicate regularly with Head Coach, membership and team leadership to ensure success of the team.
Provide for choreography needs of the team, either through direct choreography or by coordinating and obtaining outside choreography, in conjunction with the Head Coach.
Attend all game day performances (Home Football Games, Home Men's & Women's Basketball Games).
Support the recruitment and publicity efforts of the team.
Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in coaching dance, preferably for a University club sport program.
Experience coaching dance and supporting the skill development of individuals and teams.
Experience with and knowledge of instruction and choreography.
First Aid and CPR certifications required.
Experience working with college student dance teams.
Experience with dance competition, especially NDA Nationals experience, choreography for dance competition, and/or have danced competitively.
Experience in choreography for a range of styles with emphasis on hip-hop, jazz and pom.
The Assistant Dance Team Club Coach is present at all practices and game day performances. Attend Annual NDA Competition in Daytona Beach, FL (5 day travel). Attend Annual NDA Camp in Boston, MA.
Must be able to effectively demonstrate and instruct technique and skill to team members.

This position is non-benefits eligible. This position is from August through May, working 10 hours per week. The rate is $17.00 per hour.
