The Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Social Work at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Augusta 2018. Candidates should be prepared to teach various courses in the Social Work Program such as Social Welfare History & Philosophy, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, and Generalist Practice in the Community at the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, potential for excellence in research including writing and securing grants, and a potential interest in online instruction.
Augusta University is a student-centered comprehensive research university and academic health center with over 9,000 students and 1,200 faculty members committed to providing leadership and excellence in teaching, discovery, clinical care, and service. The Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work has over 400 majors in total with 15 full time and 6 part-time faculty members. Our BSW program is newly CSWE reaccredited with approximately 100 majors, four fulltime faculty lines and two part time instructors and we are currently developing a proposal for an MSW program. We are located on the beautiful Summerville campus in a building that was newly remodeled in fall 2016.
Minimum qualifications include a MSW, a minimum of two years of practice experience and a PhD in Social Work or a closely related field. While the doctorate degree is preferred, ABD candidates making significant progress towards the terminal degree will be considered.
