Art & Science Group, a consulting firm specializing in higher education strategy and market research, seeks a creative and strategic thinker to join the firm as a managing associate. The ideal candidate will have: experience in higher education or related field, including some exposure to institutional strategy; professional ambition as well as team spirit; facility analyzing data and thinking critically; exceptional written and oral communication skills; and strong organizational and time management abilities. A bachelor's degree is required, an advanced degree strongly preferred. Exposure to college admissions is a plus. Personal qualities desired include a strong work ethic, good listening skills, and a positive style that motivates others. This is not a research position, but capability and confidence in interpreting and summarizing quantitative findings are required. Qualified candidates must flourish in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and have demonstrated experience managing simultaneously multiple projects that require great attention to detail and deadlines. This position requires frequent travel.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the firm’s principals, consult on education-sector client projects that focus on developing market-informed strategy covering a range of institutional challenges including strategic planning, student recruitment, advancement, positioning and communications.
  • Manage all aspects of project work and client interaction. These include day-to-day management of project schedules and client billings as well as development and maintenance of strong relationships with clients in order to provide an excellent client experience.
  • Work closely with principals and take lead role in project work. This includes contribution to the development of study designs and research instruments; interpretation of findings and development recommendations that address client goals; and effective presentation of findings and conclusions to senior leaders and other stakeholders at client institutions.
  • Develop and write compelling proposals, including helping to frame client challenge and research approach, developing budgets, and ensuring timely delivery of a proposal that addresses needs of the prospective client.
