Position Summary:

Journeyman level locksmith knowledge of bitting schedules and lock pinning. Skilled in the application, installation and repair of door and lock hardware. This position is also responsible for performing building envelope and interior repairs for all college buildings and property. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. The incumbent is required to assist in meeting the operational needs of the College during emergencies and college closures, as well as, ensure continuity of strategic services.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent with formal locksmith training and a working knowledge of construction codes, techniques and applications.

Minimum of five years of experience in locksmithing and five years experience in the building trades, i.e. carpentry, roofing, flooring, painting, etc.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to complete work requests from start to finish, including mathematical ability to estimate labor, time and materials costs for assigned projects.

Ability to read specifications and blueprints.

Must be flexible regarding work location, hours, shifts and duties with the ability to respond as needed.

Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements:
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather condition, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions.
Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
Ability to utilize lifts, ladders and/or scaffolding to work at elevated heights.

Must have a valid Maryland driver's license and a good driving record.



Preferred Qualifications:

Heavy equipment experience preferred.

Ability to deal professionally and effectively with students, faculty, staff and the public.

Proficient oral and written communication skills.

Proven record of attendance and reliability.
