JOB PURPOSE:

Undergraduate/Masters Program Officer: Responsible for all aspects of the Anthropology department's undergraduate program. Work in close cooperation with the Undergraduate Committee. Also, responsible for all aspects of the department's co-terminal masters and terminal master's degree programs, including admissions; monitoring M.A. student degree progress; clearing students for graduation; advising the department on changes in university policies and procedures related to the MA degree and for maintaining the department's co-terminal /terminal master's program handbook and web resources.

Play a vital role developing recommendations regarding departmental and university policies and sensitive student issues. Make recommendations to the faculty regarding all undergrad/MA degree and curriculum issues. Prepare a yearly budget for the undergraduate program. Responsible for financial administration of Department UG research grant program, commencement ceremony, undergraduate events and conferences. Write and prepare UG and graduate MA informational materials, brochure, outreach flyers and associated social media. Responsible for preparation and production of the Anthropology undergraduate journal. Hire, train, and oversee department peer advisors and UG journal editorial staff. Interface with staff from central university offices and others on matters related to undergraduate and graduate student status, financial aid, and degree program. Manage the department Graduate Admission process under the direct of other department Student Services staff (i.e. test and assist in the implementation of new graduate admission technologies, including: applicant pools, decision letters, creating templates, assigning templates for release, and ensuring archive records. Represent department at University Registrar, VPUE, Student Services meetings.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Review and administer student records, analyze data, and make recommendations that require interpretation and influence decisions on routine issues.
  • Collaborate with other staff, faculty and other offices to resolve complex issues.
  • Contribute to developing and analyzing review process of offerings, policies and programs.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare reports. Contribute to identifying trends, needs analysis, participate in the implementation and testing of technology.
  • Contribute to development of marketing materials and strategies, assist in planning and developing programming activities, outreach functions.
  • Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities and participate in related student recruitment and selection.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource to other departments; represent unit/department.
  • May assist with the administration of financial processes.
  • Participate as a member of a project team.
  • May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, student and temporary workers. * - Other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations. Certifications and Licenses: None
