ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FACILITY MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS, BUMC Lab Animal Science Center (8987/H1517)
The Assistant Director of Animal Facility Operations provides senior strategic leadership for all aspects of the Animal Science Center (ASC) operations including the Boston University Medical Center and Charles River campuses. The incumbent will lead delivery on program goals by developing long-range operational programmatic plans and cultivating relationships both internally and externally to the University; has supervisory responsibilities for program staff.
Responsible for directing/managing 2-3 operations managers, 3-5 husbandry supervisors, and approximately 25-30 animal care technicians who support an extensive multi-facility laboratory animal program. Facilities include restricted clean, (barrier) and clean/conventional housing areas for a variety of species. Plans, controls and organizes routine and specialized animal care activities. Oversees the daily operation of the facility and maintains standards of animal care in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and institutional policies.
Bachelor’s Degree required; LATg AALAS Certification required, CMAR and project management experience are preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of senior operation management experience in an animal facility is also required.
