Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Director of Graduate Admissions

The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Director of Graduate Admissions. The Assistant Dean will provide strategic, visionary and operational leadership for Enrollment Management and Admissions and will work to effectively define, manage and achieve the School’s enrollment growth and retention objectives for academic on-campus and online programs. He/she will design, implement, measure and refine enrollment and admissions related initiatives.

The Assistant Dean will oversee and lead the planning and functions of recruitment, admissions, financial aid and student services for prospective and new students as well as the retention of current students. He/she will set benchmarks, generate enrollment reports to facilitate data driven decision making, develop best practices and measure results according to set strategic objectives through the use of data.

The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean, faculty, and select committees in formulating and implementing enrollment policy, as well as introducing new initiatives to meet annual enrollment targets. H/she will collaborate and coordinate with the Assistant Dean for Communications and Marketing and the Assistant Dean for Online Education on recruitment, enrollment and retention initiatives with the goal of increasing overall student engagement and persistence. Additionally, the Assistant Dean will ensure that the recruitment efforts, admissions process and student services provide support to meet the strategic enrollment and academic goals of the School. He/she is expected to pursue professional development opportunities to remain in tune with evolving enrollment and admissions trends.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • An earned Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field
  • A minimum of three years of progressively more responsible experience in college admissions, recruitment, student services or a related field
  • The ability to work collaboratively with faculty and department staff responsible for enrollment and admissions tasks
  • Familiarity with principles and best practices of enrollment management functions, including admissions, outreach, recruitment, student services, yield, retention and data driven management
  • The ability to effectively supervise, develop, and mentor staff
  • Knowledge of market research
  • A demonstrated ability to analyze problems and provide creative solutions
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and executing effective enrollment related strategies
  • The ability to work with, and understand issues related to a diverse undergraduate, graduate, non-traditional, and international student populations
  • A terminal degree or currently working toward a terminal degree is preferred
