Job Purpose: Assist the Director-Disability Services in delivering services and programs to students. Evaluate and interpret student disability history and documentation to coordinate the provision of appropriate accommodations. Coordinate support services for note taking and alternate formatting and classroom space accessibility. Meet with assigned case load of students on an on-going basis. Serve on Institute wide committees to advise on policies effecting students with disabilities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Duties may include but are not limited to: Evaluate and interpret student disability history and documentation to coordinate the provision of appropriate accommodations.
  • Coordinate support services for note taking and alternate formatting and classroom space accessibility.
  • Meet with assigned case load of students on an on-going basis to assist and make appropriate referrals for academic and non-academic issues to enhance overall student development.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of assistive technology and make recommendations for new acquisitions.
  • Assist in disability related programming and campus educational and assessment initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Higher Education, Counseling or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: Two to four years job related experience, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities; prefer experience in a university environment
  • Certifications: NA
  • Skills: Microsoft Office, strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree
  • Preferred Work Experience: Two to four years of job related experience, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a University environment.
  • Preferred Certifications: NA
  • Preferred Skills: Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a University environment.
